While it is not compulsory, there are situations when you must take SAT language test aside from the main SAT.  One of those situations is if you want to enroll in a college that requires a particular SAT language subject test score. Another reason students take an additional SAT Language Subject tests is to tell colleges that he or she has exemplary knowledge in a certain language. Some schools require SAT Language test score while other schools will only take the score into consideration, improving your chance of being accepted.
The SAT Language Subject Test is a 60-minute, Â 80 to 85 multiple-choice questions exam. You can choose which, among the offered Languages you can take for your SAT Language subject tests,

- Spanish: Students must show their comprehensive knowledge of Spanish.
- Spanish With Listening: Students must show their comprehensive knowledge of written and spoken Spanish. Test-takers are allowed to bring a CD player on test day.
- French: Students must show their comprehensive knowledge of French.
- French With Listening: Students must show their comprehensive knowledge of written and spoken French. Test-takers are allowed to bring a CD player on test day.
- Chinese With Listening: Students must show their comprehensive knowledge of written and spoken Mandarin. Test-takers are allowed to bring a CD player on test day.
- Italian: Students must show their comprehensive knowledge of Italian.
- German: Students must show their comprehensive knowledge of German.
- German With Listening: Students must show their comprehensive knowledge of written and spoken German. Test-takers are allowed to bring a CD player on test day.
- Modern Hebrew: Students must show their comprehensive knowledge of modern Hebrew.
- Latin: Students must show their comprehensive knowledge of Latin.
- Japanese With Listening: Students must show their comprehensive knowledge of written and spoken Japanese. Test-takers are allowed to bring a CD player on test day.
- Korean With Listening: Students must show their comprehensive knowledge of written and spoken Korean. Test-takers are allowed to bring a CD player on test day.
The different Language tests for SAT are not happening on the same date. In fact, they are spread up in different schedules. That is why preparing for a certain SAT language test would require careful planning.

The audio portion of the SAT language, listening tests lasts roughly 20 minutes, and the College Board requires you to bring your own CD player as well as headphones. The College Board divided the SAT language non-listening test into three parts:
- Â Reading comprehension
- Â Paragraph completions
- Â Sentence completions
For most SAT language tests, you should have at least two years of study. Since the College Board offers many of the SAT language tests in June and November, you might as well take the SAT Language Subject Tests at the end of your junior year or the starting of your senior year to boost your exposure to the SAT language tests.

Tricks You Can Use To Promptly Improve Your SAT Language Test Score
You have to familiarize yourself with the SAT language test format so that you can anticipate the test questions on test day. Some test-takers find themselves performing better on reading comprehension questions compared to the pure grammar test.
However, since the reading comprehension test is the last section, students often run out of time on the test questions that could give the strongest increase to their SAT language test score.
Also, the College Board organized the sentence completions section by order of difficulty, so you can use this knowledge to your advantage when deciding how much time you spend on a test question and whether you leave it.

International Student Tips
If a test-taker takes the language test of his native language, he or she may have an advantage since the College Board prepared the traps in the answer choices towards English speakers. A number of international students believe that having 800 points in their native language is an easy way to add to their college applications.
However, the College Board designed the Language Subject Tests for non-native speakers with years of exposure to the SAT language test of their choice. If you speak your native language fluently, it would be better if you take another subject test to boost your academic skills.
Preparing for any SAT Subject test aside from the regular SAT exam may add some burden to your study schedules. However, the benefit you get will be greater than the sacrifice you made. But don’t worry, SAT practice tests will make it easier for you. Check with your target colleges whether the require additional subject tests.
